Eggs Benedict @ Duchess Diner next to Salson’s Bakery
One Down!
The Current list:
Day 1, 6am. I trucked over to the Duchess for a bit o’ brekkie. Sat down at the bar and without even poking at the menu already knew what to order. The eggs benedict.

Good stuff, Yum. Looks like it has loads of Hollandaise Sauce yea? Nope. It is actually a thin layer. The cook lays it on really hot so it looks like there is more then there really is.
$8.54 including tip, Tres’ Cheapo!
3x Poached Eggs
(the morning cook is a poaching master, they always come out perfect.. skip the night cook and do the Monte-Cristo)
2x English Muffins
4x Slices of Ham
HUGE Pile of fried potatoes
1 endless cup o’ 1/2 way decent joe which is refilled every minute and 45 seconds
Whew! Ring the bell please, this round is over:

Speaking of, one thing that has always got me about this particular area of the East Coast (New York/ Jersey) is that people have allegiance to their diner. Seems as though when someone picks a diner, that is their diner. Everyone else’s diner sucks.
“Meet you where? Oh, well we always meet at _______ Diner their food is better.”
Give me a break. Aside from 1 or 2 items maybe, it is all diner food.

Salson’s Bakery, of which I did not partake as it is not in the budget (and I was FULL TO BURSTING from eating @Duchess..) is very good. Cookies, Pies, Cakes, AWESOME breads. Check them out, just avoid the hella grouchy old woman that works there in the afternoon. She will bite your head off if you are not careful.
Now I just have to figure out what I am going to do about the 10+ lbs I am going to gain this week.
