WHY DO YOU NEED BOOKS?!

I once went to a boss of mine years ago and asked to purchase a book. He said, “Why do you need books? You do not need books! You can get everything you need from a search engine or in the API documentation!”.

What kind of cop out is that?

Even with school there is no better way to expand your knowledge then with self education. Books are AWESOME to lay the groundwork and fundamentals of the subjects you are educating yourself of. They help you solidify your base knowledge while showing you good practice. After reading a book, you can really go and jump into the developer and API documentation without breaking a sweat! It is a great way to boost your productivity. There are plenty of places to get awesome free books as well, I will post some here later when I get to it.
